Competition Pool

The Jim McKay natatorium has been home to numerous record breaking swimmers to include Kate Ziegler, Tom Dolan, Michael Phelps, and Ed Moses. What makes this competition pool fast is the ranging depths, temperature of water, a deep gutter system, along with bulkheads that allow water to flow through easily. In addition our lanes lines are non-turbulent and alleviate waves.

The competition pool is 25Y by 50M and surrounded by an all tile deck. Our new wireless pace clocks are synched together, for easier pacing and interval training. The pool has been updated with a state of the art automated pool filtration system to include an Ultraviolet system that helps in the reduction of "red eye" for swimmers, eliminates the "chlorine smell", improves natatorium air quality, and is very effective in fighting bacteria such as Crytosporidium and Giardia.

The Aquatic and Fitness Center also offers new varsity locker rooms, a spacious hospitality room and a separate team entrance. Because of these great amenities George Mason's Aquatic and Fitness centers has continued to be the home of the CAA Championships for Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving for the past 8 seasons.

Whether your goal is to become the next gold medalist or swimming laps for a healthier future, come check out this great aquatic facility.
