Biometrics – The card-less entry system

Tired of bringing your ID when you come to work out?

No problem! Mason Recreation is excited to announce Biometric (card-less) access at the Aquatic & Fitness Center. The registration procedure is simple and can take under 2 minutes at the Customer Service Desk. This cutting edge technology takes a unique measurement of your right hand and ties that measurement to your account in our software. Once you get your hand “registered”, you can enter through our express check-in station by merely typing your G-number (or Mason Recreation Account Code) and placing you hand in the Biometric reader. Enjoy the convenience not having to keep track of your student ID or membership card and take advantage of faster check-in time. Call 703-993-3934 for details.

Renovated in 2007, the Aquatic and Fitness Center now offers a 2-story fitness gallery with 3,000 square feet of cardio and 5,000 square feet of weight training equipment. Each of the nearly 60 cardio machines includes a television for your personal entertainment. The weight room level includes Free Motion and Free Motion Epic selectorized lines, including a universal dual cable cross. The free weight area contains plate loaded equipment as well as dumbbell and barbell workout stations.

Located on the lover level, stretching rooms are available for abdominal work and flexibility training. Don't be overwhelmed by the new machines, our fitness staff offers FREE orientations to students and members, so you can make the machines work for you! To schedule your orientation, contact the Fitness Director at: (703) 993-3935. Furthermore, the Aquatic and Fitness Center offers several different group exercise classes throughout the day. Group exercise classes are a fun and exciting alternative to individual workouts. Try a cycling class for a great cardio workout that is both fun and challenging.
